A parts manager from an Avondale Volkswagen dealership has been charged for theft after stealing over $78,000 in car parts.

Court records show that the manager. 57-year-old James Kimbaris, had been stealing the parts for past two years and selling them on e-Bay.

Police say that in April of 2016, other employees at the dealership found cost adjustments in the price of parts that were equaling the amount of canceled part orders. This discovery launched an internal audit.

That audit reportedly found that Kimbaris would steal parts from the warehouse and then replace them with parts ordered from the corporate warehouse. As parts manager, Kimbaris was the only one with access to make those type of changes.

Police confronted Kimbaris about the thefts and he allegedly admitted to stealing car parts for the past two years. He estimated that he stole about $70,000 worth of parts. The dealership says it was over $78,000.

Police say Kimbaris told them that he would steal the parts after getting e-Bay orders for them. He reportedly used the seller name "darkwater12."

Kimbaris has been charged with theft and trafficking in stolen property.
