A Gilbert man who allegedly robbed a pharmacy at gunpoint consumed the pills he stole when he was confronted by police.

Court records show that on April 18 a Gilbert man went into a pharmacy that he often frequents, but this time the man went into the Albertson's pharmacy near Power and Williams Fields roads with a gun.

Gilbert police say that 27-year-old Hunter James Dolan confronted a pharmacist and a pharmacy technician with a handgun which helped him obtain a "large quantity of narcotics."

The victims told police that Dolan, "demanded numerous amounts of prescription narcotics."

The victims knew Dolan as a regular customer and were able to quickly provide police with his identity and picture.

Dolan was found by police in his car about two miles away from the pharmacy. In his car, police say they also found a BB gun between the seats.

Police say that when they found the man he refused to exit his car and instead started ingesting the pills.

Police retrieved the man from inside his car and medical personnel began to treat him for the drugs he ingested. Dolan was arrested after his release from the hospital two days later.

He's been charged with armed robbery and aggravated assault.
