A Phoenix man allegedly assaulted his wife and then her friend with a machete.

Court records show that on July 4, a man put a machete to the throat of a woman and told her, "You're dealing with one psychotic (man) now."

Police report that 31-year-old Matthew Raymond Hernandez assaulted his wife by hitting her with a box. When a friend of the victim intervened, Hernandez allegedly took a machete out of his backpack and put it against her throat leaving her with a cut on her neck.

Hernandez believed the victim was spreading rumors about him.

His wife reportedly told police that she was afraid of Hernandez because he threatened her by saying "he would put her in a box before" giving her a divorce.

Hernandez was located and arrested by police a couple of days later. He has been charged with aggravated assault.
