Blue Alert Law signed into law on Thursday

PHOENIX - The Blue Alert Law was formally signed into law on Thursday by Governor Jan Brewer.

Arizona will become the 19th state to pass the Blue Alert Law which will use the emergency broadcast system to alert the public about dangerous suspects.

The Arizona Blue Alert  is a similar system as Amber Alert and officials hope that police officers will be able to apprehend suspects faster with the media and public tips.

The notification will alert the public if there is a dangerous person on the loose that has injured or killed a police officer. It will use the emergency broadcast system and messaging signs and will provide detailed information about the suspect.

The information provided by the Blue Alert would include a description of the suspect, the offender's vehicle and license plate information in hopes of facilitating a speedy capture with the help of the public.
