10 Questions for actor Bob Clendenin

PHOENIX - It isn't always the big events that make us turn our head when we hear about politicians, celebrities and athletes.

Sometimes, we just want to know that when you boil it down, they're all ordinary people like us.  

What's in their fridge? What are they reading? What do they do in their off time?  ABC15.com is asks the same 10 questions of a newsmaker. But don't jump to any conclusions; these aren't the typical interview questions.

They are not meant to be probing or controversial. Instead, they're fun questions that let you get to know the person in ways you probably don't already.

This week, we're getting to know actor Bob Clendenin.

Bob emigrated to Australia with his parents in the early 1970s, but returned to the United States to attend Cornell University where he claims he barely earned a B.Sc. in Engineering in 1986 and earned his Master of Fine Arts from Penn State University in 1990.

After several years in regional theater he moved to Los Angeles in 1992.  Since then he has done over 70 TV guest appearances, a dozen studio films, and numerous commercials. Being a character actor often leads to interesting character names. Bob's favorites: Slow Roger, Mr. Giggles, Plumber Dave, Louis the Stalker, Doofus, and most recently Bob the Demon.

He has a recurring role on the ABC TV comedy "Cougar Town" as Tom, a neighbor who has a crush on the main character, played by Courtney Cox.

10 Questions for Bob Clendenin

1. What is your all-time favorite song?

The Eagles "Take It Easy" makes me feel good and Janice Ian's "At Seventeen" makes me weep uncontrollably.

2. Do you have a smartphone? If so, what is your favorite app?

Right now I'm car shopping so I'm all over the Kelly Blue Book App

3. Have you come up with a few things you'd like to do before you die? If so, what's on your bucket list?

I'm not much of a thrill seeker - I'd like to continue leading a happy healthy life with my loving family.

4. Who do you count as your mentor(s)?

My Father was the greatest man I ever knew.

5. What was your very first job?

Accosting Fran Drescher on a subway in The Nanny and yelling "Give me a dollar!"

6. If you could change one thing about yourself what would it be?

I wish I didn't care so much about what other people think of me.

7. What do you consider your greatest success?

I'm proud of the fact that I can make a living doing something I enjoy this much.

8. Tell us something about you most people don't know.

I was an engineer in college.

9. If you could have dinner with any three people, living or dead, who would it be?

JJ Abrams, John Cleese and Bill Murray

10. If you could have a different career, other than what you're doing now, what would it be?

I have a math/science brain but need a creative component. I've often thought I would have enjoyed (and probably been good at) architecture or editing.
