10 questions for ABC15's Brandon Hamilton

PHOENIX - It isn't always the big events that make us turn our head when we hear about politicians, celebrities and athletes.

Sometimes, we just want to know that when you boil it down, they're all ordinary people like us.

What's in their fridge? What are they reading? What do they do in their off time? ABC15.com is asking the same 10 questions of a newsmaker. But don't jump to any conclusions; these aren't the typical interview questions.

They are not meant to be probing or controversial. Instead, they're fun questions that let you get to know the person in ways you probably don't already.

This week, we're getting to know ABC15 Traffic Anchor Brandon Hamilton.

Brandon joined the ABC15 News Team in December 2011.

As someone who loves to travel, he didn't mind the 1,800 mile trek from his hometown of Cincinnati, Ohio.

What TV show would he host if given the opportunity? Read on...

1. What is your all-time favorite song?

Highway to the "Danger Zone". I'm an adventurous person who likes to take risks, so this song pumps me up!  Plus, Top Gun is my favorite movie, so of course this is my favorite song.

2. Do you have a smartphone? If so, what is your favorite app?

Yes, I have an iPhone.  My favorite app is ESPN ScoreCenter. If my Cincinnati teams aren't on TV out here in Phoenix, I use this app to get up-to-the-minute scores and updates.

3. Have you come up with a few things you'd like to do before you die? If so, what's on your bucket list?

My bucket list is 20,000 pages long. Basically, I love exploring, so I want to see the entire world before I die!  To name a few specific things I want to do... Explore the Ancient Greek/Roman Ruins, see the Titanic at the bottom of the North Atlantic Sea, watch a game in every MLB/NFL/NBA stadium, create a unique TV show that makes a difference in people's lives, etc.

4. Who do you count as your mentor(s)?

I have many people I consider a mentor. First off, I am blessed to have an amazing family, from my mom & dad to my grandparents, they are all a mentor to me in a way.  My mom raised me to have good morals & values, have faith in God, be a gentleman, work hard & go after my dreams! My dad always encourages me to work hard and be the best I can be in life. Other people I consider mentors, 1. Steve Bishop (Dept President at Procter & Gamble) who taught me a lot about business & keys to being successful. 2. Marcus Mecum (Pastor 7Hills Church Cincinnati) who fills my heart with the Lord & encourages me to be the best person I can possibly be in life. 3. Don Wildman (TV Host/EP- History Channel "Cities Of The Underworld" & Travel Channel "Off Limits") who gives me wonderful advice about working in TV & how to use my creativity!

5. What was your very first job?

My first job was working at my family's business, Hamilton's. They rebuild alternators, starters, parts for the luggage carts at the Cincinnati/NKY Airport, fix parts for de-icing machines, etc...

6. If you could change one thing about yourself what would it be?

Even though I have many flaws, I wouldn't change anything about myself. I am happy with how God made me and I wake up every day just thankful to be alive!  I would like to have better eyesight though... I can't see my hand in front of my face without my contacts in!

7. What do you consider your greatest success?

Breaking into the TV business at such a young age. I started working on air when I was a junior in college back in Cincinnati. It was pretty crazy working at the TV station and then going to school after work! I'm a dedicated individual and I go after what I want and I think to be successful you have to put all of your doubt & fear aside and go after your dreams. I was given an amazing opportunity at such a young age and I will forever appreciate it!

8. Tell us something about you most people don't know.

I love history and the unexplained/paranormal. I also sneeze at least once while eating a mint or chewing mint gum... weird I know!

9. If you could have dinner with any three people, living or dead, who would it be?

George Washington, Thomas Jefferson and Abraham Lincoln

10. If you could have a different career, other than what you're doing now, what would it be?

Host a show on Travel Channel, History Channel, Discovery Channel, etc. or I would love to work for a professional baseball team (Cincinnati Reds).
