Cornflakes - I admit I did rush to judgement and I do apologize. I hope you will accept. I do hope Bean gets better soon and that you and her mum are reunited soon as well. Tell your niece - sometimes people are stupid but some of us can admit we are.

In my opinion, it's interesting that by running a story like this, it would appear to the public that the Arizona Humane Society saves all lives, when in reality they are killing sometimes up to 57% of the animals they get. According to published numbers, they take in almost 50,000 animals a year and more than half end up dead. It's a shame that the public doesn't see the truth. AHS will probably tell you that they don't have the resources to stop the killing but in reality, how do they not with a $12M a year budget?

Thank you all for the positive comments. It does feel horrible to be called such things and to be labeled as a bad dog owner. First my family and I had our hearts broke when we realized we wouldn't be able to keep her. She had been a very happy, thriving, playful puppy when we got up and she just wasnt herself. We tried everything, but by the next day, she wasn't even able to keep food down. She needed medical attention and quickly so we did what we did. We were told they would try to keep her alive, but we really thought they wouldn't. When we found out she was alive and doing so well we truely felt blessed. However when my children watched the News show and how they made us sound so horrible, it hurt them worse than when we took her to the clinic. But the whole reason I deceided to justify myself is because of my young neice. While my children are young adults, and know in their hearts we didnt abandon her, but my neice is 12 and is hurting so much. She can't understand why people are being so mean and think we are horrible. Because we aren't. We had the fence fixed immedately and I have already tried once to get my dog fixed, but it too soon. She still has to dry up and get thru her next heat, which is just about finished. I then go back to the free clinic and have it done and then she will come home. At my moms she stays inside. We have taken all steps to ensure this never happens again. To who ever gets Bean, give her all the love and care that we gave her when she was first born. And thank you to AHS for making her better and getting her some wheels...

Grayheck: Motorhead - NICE!!! Get a job - Already have 2 of them (not because I need them but because I'm not lazy). People crack me up. I make my statement, and because it does not mirror your opinion, you start with your judgements on me. Oh, the humors of the world. At no point did I mention anyone in particular in this post other than to Cornflake. Thus, there is no need for you to say anything to me Grayheck. My post was merely to let Cornflakes know that there is no reason for her to feel that she needs to justify herself to anybody and that coming on this blog is only going to upset her more as too many people will place judgement and attack her decisions just as they have.

itiswhatitis: With a name like that I am not suprised by your attitude, motorhead. And cornflakes, it sounds like you had legit reasons to part with the dog I only hope that you get your dog fixed and soon. If you are not responsible enough to care for a dog, then don't get a dog. It sounds as if you do have reasons to be a pet owner, you just need to look into some of the very low cost options available to you: http://phoenix.about.com/od/anim/a/spayneuter.htm I wish you well and hope that you can get your dog back very soon. Tell your brother to go fix the holes in that fence! Responsibility! If you truly have acted as responsibly as you say you might want to drop ABC15 a line regarding their use of the word 'abandoned'. The video on that story paints you in horrible light. Good luck to you cornflakes. itiswhatitis: Get a new slogan. that expression is so defeatus and tired. Go get a job.

Cornflakes, like you said - you don't need to explain yourself, leave it at that. You owe nobody any sort of an explanation. Bean is alive, safe, recovering, and receiving the best care she could possibly get. Don't read these blogs as the hate spewed from the mouths of those who feel they have the right to place judgement will do nothing but upset and anger you. YOU did what YOU felt YOU needed to do and what YOU felt what was best. Obviously it turned out to be just that. Leave it at that and sleep easy. May God bless you.

First I didn't have her spayed because I was living alone, in an apt. My dog was given to me with my apartments permission as a companion pet because I was living alone and am disabled. However I was hospitalized for 2 weeks and lost the apartment and would have been homeless if my brother hadn't me in. This was her first heat. Never did I think it possible she would become pregnant. Cyndib responsed to the comments, she didnt know the entire story of us turning the puppy over, however that shouldn't matter. Had I brought the puppy in myself, she would have been put down. She didn't deserve that. The person that took the puppy for us, asked if they would please not put her down unless absolutely necessary. The clinic told him they would see if she could make it thru the night and if she did they would send her to the AHS. Being realistic, my family knew she needed more help and love and care than we could give her, considering our current fininical situation. It sad that people just want to reem me, which is fine, I probably deserve it. But I also know that our prayers were answered and she is alive and going to live.

And why are you saying the dog is not staying in "YOUR" house when your earlier story has "YOUR" house being lost to foreclosure. Your story is like swiss cheese...there are holes through-out.
