Memorial Day travel tips from Sky Harbor Airport

PHOENIX - Traveling for Memorial Day? Sky Harbor will be busy this week for the holiday.

To fight the rush, the airport is offering Memorial Day travel tips and a special coupon on their website, according to a press release.

From May 23 to May 30, you can save 40 percent on the terminal garage parking rate at Sky Harbor by downloading a coupon from skyharbor.com . That means you'll pay $15 per day for parking rather than the standard $25 rate.

In addition, here are some tips on making your Memorial Day trip easier.

- Arrive at the airport two hours before your flight departs, especially if you're parking in economy areas or checking bags.

- Be sure to check your purse or carry-on before you arrive at the airport. A forgotten weapon can cause delays, hassles and even fines.

- Liquids and gels carried onto the plane must be in 3-ounce containers or smaller and placed in a quart-sized zip lock bag. Larger quantities or medically necessary liquids are allowed at the discretion of TSA screeners.

- Use the Sky Train as an alternative to driving to the airport. Located at 44th and Washington streets, the Sky Train allows guests to get to their terminal while avoiding any waits caused by cars dropping people off.
