PHOENIX - If you find yourself without a safe ride home this Sunday, the American Automobile Association will tow your car up to 10 miles home for free.
AAA of Arizona is reinstating its "Tipsy Tow" service, which aims to combat the increased rate of drunken driving during Memorial Day weekend by offering free towing.
The service will start Sunday at 6 p.m. and last until 6 a.m. Monday. Even non-AAA members can get their car towed up to 10 miles for free, with standard towing rates applying after that distance.
According to a AAA press release, one alcohol-related death occurs every 45 minutes in the U.S., and drunk drivers contribute to one in three traffic deaths.
A first-time DUI conviction can wind up costing more than $10,000 in fines, penalties and legal fees.
