VON HANSON'S MEATS & SPIRITS teams with FOUR PEAKS BREWING COMPANY and FOUR PEAKS OKTOBERFEST at TEMPE TOWN LAKE as Official Bratwurst and creates Kilt Lifter Bratwurst!!

What goes better with beer than a good brat?

Arizona's largest Oktoberfest celebration partnered with Von Hanson's Meats & Spirits to supply 20,000 fresh, hand-crafted bratwurst for the 2014 event to be held October 10-12 at Tempe Town Lake.

Von Hanson's Meats joined forces with Tempe Sister Cities and The Four Peaks Brewing Company to help create a local culture at this year's Oktoberfest. Tempe Sister Cities, who in their 43rd year as the sponsors of the event, has also partnered with Tempe-based Four Peaks Brewing Company. As the title sponsor, the brewery supplies four German-inspired beer styles to the event as well as other favorites from their portfolio. The local Chandler "old fashioned" meat market is providing a flavorful German inspired bratwurst created by the store's Minnesota born sausage meister who has a strong German heritage.

This year will also mark the debut of the Original Kilt Lifter Bratwurst, made with Arizona's best-selling craft beer. It will be available for sale at Von Hanson's as well as at Four Peaks Brewing Company.  Kilt Lifter is Four Peaks' multiple award-winning brew at the World Beer Cup as well as the Great American Beer Festival.  It is a full-bodied Scottish-style ale with a caramel and roasted barley flavor, a malty sweetness and a hint of smokiness with a clean, dry finish. Imagine such a flavor in a bratwurst!

Von Hanson's Meats & Spirits is located at 2390 North Alma School Road in Chandler. In 2004, Eugene and Martha Neese opened the butcher shop after electing as snowbirds to bring along suitcases full of Midwestern-grown meats from the original Von Hanson's Meats in Apple Valley, Minnesota. After they were unable to find establishments that were comparable in quality and flavor, they partnered with owners from the Minnesota Von Hanson's Meats to open a location in Chandler. Now, their daughter Malesha Neese is learning the family business and works as a sausage meister at the butcher shop. The Chandler store remains the only Von Hanson's Meats store outside the state of Minnesota and makes as many as 80 different varieties of their own sausages and jerky as well as processes wild game, sells barbeques woods and chips, dog treats and bones.

This year's Oktoberfest is certain to provide flavorful beers, bratwursts, carnival games, rides for the entire family and live music on 3 stages.

"Arizonans know there is no shortage of Oktoberfests being held throughout the state in the Fall," according to Bobbi Jones, event director. "We want to differentiate our event by providing the highest quality and locally produced products to complement the cultural value our association with our German visitors brings to Tempe's Oktoberfest each year."

The 2013 event was enjoyed by 153,000 revelers over 3 days.
