Downtown Las Vegas is where it all started, with the first hotel in the city opening on Fremont Street in 1906. The area has been in the midst of revitalization, offering visitors new experiences while paying homage to its history.

See it all at the Fremont Street Experience, a five-block pedestrian mall with shops and casinos covered with a light canopy that offers light shows nightly. Free concerts are part of the mix, and there's also a zipline that runs above the pedestrian mall, so you can fly over the crowds and check out the action from above.

Other sections of the downtown area have undergone revitalization. Earlier this year, the Mob Museum opened to tell the story of organized crime in Las Vegas and around the world. Later this year, in September, the Neon Museum is expected to open about one mile north of Fremont Street. Today, you can see old neon signs from the museum's collection displayed on Fremont Street in a self-guided walking tour.
