ABC15 takes great pride in honoring our local military veterans who continue to give back to the community!

And thanks to our partner Sanderson Ford, as well as the hundreds of you who submitted nominations, we are kicking off our ABC15 Salutes Arizona Veterans Campaign!

Former SGT Jeff Berntgen was an Army Reservist when he was called into action in 2003 as a Transportation Specialist in Iraq. But, a medical discharge forced him to leave his unit, which left him feeling guilty, as though his mission was never complete. It was those feelings that turned into a mission to help others. Jeff son found that by volunteering as a peer counselor with the Wounded Warrior Project, he was not only helping others he was really helping himself.

Jeff also uses running as therapy for himself and teaches others how to run properly offering up free running clinics through the Wounded Warrior Project.

Jeff received a $500 gift card courtesy of Sanderson Ford as a thank you for his continued efforts to serve the community.
