Dr. Richard Jacoby is one of the country's leading peripheral nerve surgeons. He practices in
Scottsdale, Arizona, and has won the Phoenix Magazine Top Docs Award four times in the past
decade. He specializes in the treatment of peripheral neuropathy, which is progressive damage
to the nerves that often results from diabetes. He has treated thousands of patients with the
condition over the years, and has successfully treated many patients who would have otherwise
had to have an amputation.
Dr. Jacoby is one of the co-founders of the Scottsdale Healthcare Wound Management Center
and is the past president of the Arizona Podiatry Association and the Association of Extremity
Nerve Surgeons. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Podiatric Surgery and is a member
of the American Podiatry Association, the Arizona Podiatry Association, and the Association of
Extremity Nerve Surgeons.
His research includes collaborations with Dr. Lee Dellon, a neurosurgeon at Johns Hopkins
University and Dr. John Cooke, a leading vascular biologist at Stanford University. In 1981, he
was commissioned by Dr. Luke Chu, then Surgeon General of Taiwan, to investigate the
country's rising incidence of diabetes. He was trained personally by Dr. Lee Dellon in the Dellon
procedure and has performed more than 2,500 successful decompression procedures.
