Friendly Pines: Now's the time to start researching summer sleepaway camps for your child!

Summer is just around the corner. School will be letting out before you know it. It's already time to start planning your child's summer!

Summer sleep-away camp has been an American tradition since the late 1800's, but for many families, summer camp is a grand, new adventure to which they must devote lots of planning and thought. There are many questions to answer: How do I choose a camp? How will my child do on his or her own at a sleep-away camp? How will I do on MY own? What are the benefits of sending my child to a sleep-away camp?

Kevin Nissen, the director of Friendly Pines Camp in Prescott, will host a special Sleep-away Camp Seminar for families at The Play Factory at Desert Ridge Marketplace in NE Phoenix on Monday, April 8, from 4 to 5 p.m. FREE admission! Bring the kids! Refreshments will be served. Great prizes will also be given away. Families can even enter to win a FREE week of camp at Friendly Pines!

Kevin will help parents navigate the questions and considerations of summer camp. He will highlight the unique benefits of a sleep-away camp experience and illustrate how the skills learned at summer camp will ultimately give children the special skills that they will need to compete in the complex world they will face as adults - the special skills that sleep-away camp teaches better than perhaps any other institution in our culture.
