Fun, food at Octoberfest at Salt River Fields

Octoberfest returns to Salt River Fields on Sat., Oct. 12 from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., transforming the venue into a beer-lover's paradise, plus activities for the whole family once again.

With more than 50 beverage varieties starting at just $4, Octoberfest celebrates autumn and presents an event with an activity, beverage and tasty treat that everyone can enjoy.

This year, Octoberfest transforms from the typical beer fest into an action-packed day with contests, Crossfit/Urban Warfit's Barbells & Hops WODtoberfest, a kid's zone, TV monitors showing games of the day, and more, including:

--The Sausage Party. It's a sausage smorgasbord! Guests can enjoy a variety of more than 15 different sausage flavors.  
--Pretzelteria. LTB Concepts' The Lodge dishes out delicious soft pretzels of four different flavors with 12 different dipping sauces.
--The World's Biggest Bags Tournament.  The game of beanbags is taken to the extreme in this tournament. Teams of two will compete for $5,000 in cash prizes.

Octoberfest features tents by Dierks Bentley's Whiskey Row, Uncle Bears Grill & Bar and Hooters, among a number of other bars serving a variety beverages.

--Beers of the World bars. The Beers of the World bars feature four variously themed bars serving numerous beverages from local crafts to rare foreign beers. --Live music.  Music and entertainment happening all day on the Octoberfest Main Stage with performances by the Bad Cactus Brass Band, Lane Change, Jukebox Kings and more.

--Southern Comfort Fantasy Football Sports Lounge. TVs tuned on sports games and Southern Comfort drinks, it's a sports fan paradise.

--Relax Lounge. Relax Wine serves its finest wine.
--Octoberfest Arena.

--Beer Olympics. Later, Octoberfest Arena transforms into the 2013 Beer Olympics, with a number of beer competitions.

--Funkalicious Volleyball Tournament. The annual Funkalicious Volleyball Tournament is back and at the Salt River Fields South Multipurpose Field. The tournament puts four person coed teams to the test; each registered participant receives an admission pass to Octoberfest.
