Save on fees to adopt a black cat this wekeend at Arizona Humane Society

PHOENIX - If you're not superstitious, this is the perfect weekend to adopt a black cat from the Arizona Humane Society.

Saturday and Sunday they're celebrating Black Cat Appreciation Weekend with discounted fees for black and tuxedo felines.

The Arizona Humane Society says they are considered the hardest and take the longest to get adopted, although they don't know why.

Officials say currently 1/3 of the cats on the adoption floor are black or black and white "tuxedo" felines who are looking for a new home.

In honor of the 70 black and tuxedo cats and kittens on the AHS adoption floor, the adoption fee will be dropped both Saturday and Sunday by 50 percent at all three AHS locations.

The facilities are open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and fees to adopt all black and black and white tuxedo cats will be just $25.
