Nicknamed "Prickly Pete," he was just one of nearly 90 cats hoping to spend the New Year in a new forever home.
The feline was found last Wednesday near 19th Avenue and Cactus Road, with cactus needles stuck to his head, leg, and back.
It took two hours for workers to remove the cactus needles.
Pete was put on pain medication and antibiotics to fight any infection.
No one came forward to claim him, so Pete was put up for adoption at the Arizona Humane Society Wednesday morning at 11 a.m. It apparently took over an hour for the perfect family to come forward and take him home.
An ABC15 crew was there for the happy occasion and tells us he was adopted by Jean Mann from Sun City.
Mann says Pete will have two buddies, Maltese that she shares her home with.
