Pet of the Week- Gentle giant Boszo looking for a new family to love

PHOENIX - Boszo is a gentle giant. In the midst of a divorce, neither party could keep the 107-pound Irish Wolfhound mix in their new place and decided to bring him to AHS to search for a new home.

At the age of nine, Boszo is a mellow dog who is already leash and housetrained, has a firm grip on all of the basic commands and enjoys sharing his home with children of all ages and small dogs (he is unaware of his size and tends to think of himself as a small dog). With a low-tolerance for the heat, this shaggy dog prefers playing ball and going for walks in the morning and when the sun goes down in the evenings he likes to relax in the backyard-munching on grass and supervising his owner while they rake leaves or trim trees (he likes to steal small sticks that fall from the tree and chew on them). He loves car rides but with his old age he needs a little help getting into the back seat. He will lug his front paws up on the seat but when he looks back over his shoulder that's his owner's cue to lift him the rest of the way.

His shaggy coat will need to be groomed regularly and drying him off takes a few HOURS. He enjoys being brushed and will roll over so you can untangle the fur on his belly but may need to have his bangs trimmed often so that he can see the world clearly.

He is available NOW at the Sunnyslope facility located at 9226 N 13th Avenue in Phoenix. His adoption fee is $35 and this fee includes his neuter surgery and vaccinations. For more information call 602-997-7585 x 2045 and ask for animal ID number A408080 .
