PHOENIX - What would you do if all 513 of your friends went away in just two days, and you were left all alone?
That was the case for Madeline, a 4-year-old pit bull terrier who participated over the weekend in “Maddie’s Pet Adoption Days” at the Arizona Humane Society. But that isn't the end of her story.
According to officials, 1,346 dogs and 647 cats were adopted at Valley animal shelters during the event.
Bretta Nelson at the Arizona Humane Society said Madeline met with a few families over the weekend, but no family adopted her out.
Sadly, this wasn’t the dog’s first interaction with a shelter.
She was first brought into the Arizona Humane Society in 2010 as a puppy, was adopted out, and four years later found herself back at the shelter because of her owner’s failing health, according to Nelson.
But Madeline got lucky on Tuesday. According to the Arizona Humane Society, she was adopted after a couple saw her story on the news Monday night.
Adoptions re-opened Tuesday.
