What happened to 'Scandal'? Here's why the ABC hit was delayed until January

A scandal is brewing about Scandal.

One look at the ABC15 TV schedule and you'll quickly notice that Shonda Rhimes' Scandal is missing from the Thursday night line-up.

You see Grey's Anatomy and How To Get Away With Murder. Dun. Dun. Dunnn.

Frantically, you log-on to Facebook to check out Scandal's official Facebook page and notice the cover photo with the famous scratched-red logo and a note: "Returns January 2017."

So, what gives?

Earlier this spring, news broke that Kerry Washington, who plays Olivia Pope, was expecting her second child. The dilemma? Her character has no plans right now to become pregnant in the show.

The season six premiere was delayed until next year. However, Notorious, a new drama to ABC, will take over Scandal's Thursday night slot this fall. (Notorious airs Thursday nights at 8 p.m. on ABC15.)

So Olivia Pope is not gone forever; she's just working on a different assignment for a bit.

Notorious stars Piper Perabo as TV news producer Julia George and Daniel Sunjata as a defense attorney. Together, they work to make strong headlines and good television.
