PHOENIX - And the Oscar goes to… ABC15!
Oscar, the famous statuette of the Academy Awards, stopped by Phoenix on Thursday during the first-ever Oscar Roadtrip.
Ben Gleib, a guest comedian on E! Chelsea Lately, and Angie Greenup from E! and SpikeTV toured with their team across the country, showing off shiny Oscar.
The trip started in New York City a couple weeks ago, and Phoenix was their last stop before heading back to Hollywood, Calif. for the awards show Sunday.
Gleib and Greenup said some movie fans even drove several hours just to meet Oscar at their stops across the U.S.
For many movie buffs, holding an Oscar was just a dream. But the Oscar Roadtrip helped make it a reality.
He has been the prized possession of the best in the film industry since 1929, according to Oscars.org.
And at 8.5 pounds, Oscar was a little heavier than expected!
There were two opportunities Thursday for Valley residents to hold Oscar.
From 12:30 to 1:30 p.m., the Roadtrip team was at the Memorial Union on the Arizona State University Tempe campus.
Later from 4 to 5 p.m., they were at Desert Stages Theatre which is located at 4720 N. Scottsdale Road in Scottsdale.
Academy Awards coverage starts at 5 p.m. Sunday on ABC15. The show begins at 6:30 p.m.
