The Superstition Mountains have a secret: The promise of riches beyond your wildest dreams!

Travelers from across the world come here to embrace the legend and the mystery of the Lost Dutchman gold mine.

It all began in the 1800s when a German prospector, Jacob Waltz, came down from the Superstition Mountains with bags of rich gold ore.

But no one else knew the exact location of his mine. It was said he left clues behind before he died in 1891, and so the legend was created!

People have been leading treks into the Superstitions as early as 1934 to search for the lost mine, but no one has found it yet.

Of course, that doesn't deter the most avid thrill seekers from returning over and over again to explore the trails looking for the "Holy Grail" of gold mines.

Even if you aren't in search of your next fortune, the beauty of the mountains and the blooming desert landscape here in the Lost Dutchman State Park are sure to give you memories you can treasure for a lifetime!
