After seafood restaurant "Crab and Mermaid" pulled up its anchor and left sea in May, Square One Concepts said it would develop a new restaurant concept that was a better fit for Old Town Scottsdale.

On Tuesday, the Scottsdale-based restaurant group revealed what that new concept would be. It's called Famous 48, a tavern-themed restaurant with an American menu.

The menu will feature regional dishes from around the country "crafted with an artisanal approach," according to a news release. Sample dishes include barbecue baby back ribs, half-roasted chicken, roasted pork loin and fish and chips.

The inside of the 3,000-square-foot restaurant will have leather horseshoe booths, banquettes, and wooden high top tables, the release said. Couches and fire pits will create a comfortable experience out on the open-air patio.

An exact opening date was not announced, but the release said Famous 48 is expected to open in the fall. It will be open for lunch and dinner every day and will serve brunch on the weekend.

Square One Concepts is the same group behind Cold Beers & Cheeseburgers, who plans to open four locations over the next year; Bourbon & Bones, the steakhouse next to Famous 48, Wasted Grain and The Funky Monk.
