What makes a good marketing campaign?

The one that works (obviously). But, really, it's the one that draws the most attention and gets millions of people to talk about it -- Twitter, Facebook, texts, emails, whatever.

On Thursday evening as much of America was decompressing from the work day with the Olympics (while also thanking the work gods that tomorrow is Friday), Lucasfilm decided to shock us by throwing in a two-minute trailer for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

What's more? It's going to hit theaters this year in December.

According to StarWars.com, Rogue One will be a stand-alone film with a story that fits into the larger Star Wars journey.

"In a time of conflict, a group of unlikely heroes band together on a mission to steal the plans to the Death Star, the Empire’s ultimate weapon of destruction," is how the story is described on the Star Wars website.
