Joe's Real BBQ is celebrating its annual "Customer Appreciation Day" next week with free meals.

On Wednesday, May 3 from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. - 7:30 p.m., guests can visit Joe's Real BBQ for a free lunch or dinner.

The meal includes a choice of BBQ pulled pork sandwich or chicken sandwich, Cole slaw and baked beans, and a drink. The deal is available for dine-in only.

Tad Peelen, a managing partner at Joe's, said in recent years the Gilbert eatery has seen between 4,000 and 6,000 people stop by for the event.

This year, they're expecting 5,000 people and plan to have between 4,500 and 5,000 pounds of meat in the smoker.

While the lunch is free, Joe's will also be accepting non-perishable food donations to benefit the Open Arms Care Center in Gilbert.
