Celebrate Halloween at 11 of Arizona's great haunted houses

PHOENIX - As the desert's unforgiving heat begins to dim, pumpkins, ghouls, goblins -- and chainsaws -- start to come out of the woodwork. October means Valley residents can find a hair-raising, nail-biting experience at several haunted house locations state-wide.

1. Home to four haunted attractions including a 3-D Fear Factory and the Castle of Darkness, Arizona's Original Scream Park will leave you looking in the corners of your house. Also offers a psychic corner.

Arizona's Original Scream Park : 8823 E. McDowell Road, Scottsdale
Admission: $22 per person for two haunted attractions, $27 for an All Access pass, $10 extra for Speed Pass. Parking costs $6. Cash only at the gate or purchase tickets online with a credit card.
Dates: Sneak Preview Weekend Friday, Oct. 5 and 6 and Thursday through Sunday

2. Glendale's corn maze will take you on a tour of the haunted, as chainsaw-wielding actors follow you. Make sure not to leave friends and family behind if you run away in fear.

Admission: $16 per person, all ages
Open Friday and Saturdays beginning Oct. 5 and Wednesday, Oct. 31.
Not recommended for ages 10 and under. Children under 15 must be accompanied by an adult.

3. This year Fear Farm is celebrating their "13th Year of Fear." Five separate haunts will leave you shaking in your boots. Those who are a little timid with fear can enjoy their Fun Farm Corn Maze

Admission: Tickets range from $8 to $30. Fast Track passes are available.

4. Stop by Golfland for its Fright Nights! Admission includes its Black Plague-themed Gauntlet Haunted House, plus other attractions like spooky mini golf.

Admission: Regular haunted house admission $12, Unlimited Fear and Fun $27.46, Spooktacular Golf $7.25+tax for adults and $6.25+tax for children.

5. Selected in 2010 as spookiest place by Good Morning America, this film studio/haunted house brings visitors through a 55,000 sq. ft. pavilion with graveyards, 3-D haunted houses and more.

Admission: $25 for general admission, VIP admission for $40 at the door/$29 online.

6. "Jack and Jill went up the hill… and never re-appeared." Visit this abandoned mine-themed haunted house for some Halloween thrills at an all new location. For thrill-seeking families, certain hours are dedicated family-friendly hours.

7. Take a stroll through this monster-themed haunted house located in the basement of the bar and grill. Not a fan of haunted houses? You can still enjoy your meal and watch live video of your friends and family leaving the house in horror.

Admission: Tickets online starting at $10 or purchase the AZ Fright Pass for $35 and gain entry to The Crypt, Monsterland and Chambers of Fear.

8. Tucson's haunted house attraction offers teen nights, family fear days and several other activities to send chills down your spine.

The Slaughter House : 1102 W. Grant Road, Tucson
Admission: General admission $21, $50 VIP access includes access to all haunts, front of line privileges and a T-shirt. Single attraction prices are $7.

9. The 13th Floor is an intense, graphic, theatrical show that will take you on a gut wrenching ride of visceral thrills and psychological horror.

10. Starting out as a small home haunt over 23 years ago, it was run out of a 3 car garage and driveway. Over the years it has grown five times over and now includes carnival rides, the Haunted Corn Maze, scream cams, food vendors and more. Come out and visit Chambers of Fear… if you dare!

11. Located on more than five acres of fear at The Pavilions at Talking Stick behind Target, The Panic Park is much more than a traditional haunted house – it's a haunted theme park.
