PHOENIX - Work out and then reward yourself with a delicious meal.
That's the premise behind BRUNch Running, a social running club that schedules weekly 5K and 10K runs around Phoenix, followed by brunch at a local restaurant.
The club started in Denver, but expanded to Phoenix last year.
"Phoenix blew our mind and our expectations," said Alexandra Weissner, co-founder of BRUnch Running.
The social club meets at various restaurants around Phoenix for a training run and then ends back at the restaurant. There runners can eat and chat, said Weissner.
Tickets are $25 in advance and $30 at the door. The ticket covers the run, entree, two drinks, tax and gratuity.
Last year, the club visited 14 restaurants and logged over 1,000 miles.
This year's running season kicks off on Sept. 7 at OHSO Eatery + nanoBrewery.
Other scheduled stops include, True Foot Kitchen in Scottsdale, ChopShop in Tempe, House Brassiere, OHSO Distillery and SanTan Brewing Company.
