SANTA CLARITA, CA - Actor Paul Walker was killed in a car crash in California, his representatives have confirmed.
TMZ.com first reported that the 40-year-old actor best known for his role in the "Fast & Furious" movies died in a single-vehicle crash in Santa Clarita, north of Los Angeles.
According to the Associated Press, the crash happened in the community of Valencia. The Santa Clarita Valley Signal reports a Porsche crashed into a light pole and tree and burst into flames.
Walker and another person in the car were killed.
The accident happened around 3:30 p.m., according to The Santa Clarita Valley Signal.
The message below was posted on Walker's Facebook page :
"It is with a truly heavy heart that we must confirm that Paul Walker passed away today in a tragic car accident while attending a charity event for his organization Reach Out Worldwide . He was a passenger in a friend's car, in which both lost their lives. We appreciate your patience as we too are stunned and saddened beyond belief by this news. Walker is the star of a movie scheduled for release December 13. "Hours" is an independent film about a father struggling to keep his newborn infant alive in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, according to CNN.
