ENCINO, CA - Country-singers George Straight and Garth Brooks will honor the late Dick Clark at the 48th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards by performing together for the first time.
Dick Clark was an iconic figure who not only hosted the "Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve" celebration in New York City for many years, but he also was a longtime producer of the Academy of Country Music Awards. He died in April 2012.
The academy will rename the "Artist of the Decade Award" to the "Dick Clark Artist of the Decade Award" to honor the former radio and television personality. Both Straight and Brooks have been recipients of the award.
Luke Bryan and Blake Shelton will co-host the award show.
The Academy of Country Music Awards will air Sunday, April 7 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas starting at 8 p.m. E.S.T.
