FLAGSTAFF, AZ - Get out the shovels because the snow is coming down and more is expected around Flagstaff.
The National Weather Service issued a winter weather advisory until 11 a.m. Friday for northern Arizona.
Forecasters are predicting snow accumulation of 2 to 3 inches with total accumulations from the current storm system of 4 to 7 inches.
Snow levels could come down to 4,500 feet, with 8 to 12 inches expected in Flagstaff.
The blast of winter weather has even affected schools in the area.
The Flagstaff Unified School District has canceled classes Friday because of the weather.
Roads around the Flagstaff area are icy and slick and district administrators did not want to risk putting buses out there Friday morning.
The White Mountains of eastern Arizona could also be blanketed with up to 2 feet of snow by a second storm system expected Saturday.
The lower deserts will see cool, unsettled weather through the weekend with afternoon highs in the 50s and overnight lows in the 30s and 40s. There's a 20 to 30 percent chance of rain through late Saturday.
