Tropical Storm Helene is expected to make landfall in Mexico on Saturday, dumping heavy rains and strong winds to an area recovering from Hurricane Ernesto.

The storm was about 35 miles (55 km) southeast of the port city of Tampico Saturday morning.

It is expected to move inland near Veracruz later in the day, the National Hurricane Center said.

Helene has sustained winds of 40 mph and could dump as much as 8 inches of rain on parts of the state of Veracruz, the hurricane center said.

It comes after Ernesto hit the area last week as a Category 1 hurricane before weakening.
