Road restrictions due to GOP presidential debate in Mesa

MESA, AZ - Drivers in Mesa have several road restrictions to look out for Wednesday due to the Republican presidential debate.
According to the city of Mesa, the following closures are in place in the downtown area and will reopen late Wednesday night or early Thursday morning:
- Main Street in both directions between Center Street and Sirrine/Centennial Way
- Center Street between Main Street and First Avenue
- First Avenue in both directions between Center Street and Sirrine
- Only local traffic will be allowed on Sirrine between Main Street and First Avenue
- At 1 p.m. Wednesday, eastbound traffic on Main Street will be shut down from Hibbert to Sirrine/Centennial Way
City officials say the times for reopening are to be determined.
Businesses in downtown Mesa will remain open.
If you’re looking for free parking in the area, you can go to lots off Pepper Place and First Avenue between Center Street and MacDonald.
