Several projects and events in the Phoenix area will require closures this weekend (May 3-5), according to the Arizona Department of Transportation and the City of Phoenix. Drivers are encouraged to plan ahead and consider alternate routes while the following street and freeway closures are in place this weekend.
State Route 143 (Hohokam Expressway) closed in both directions between Interstate 10 and University Drive near Sky Harbor Airport from 11 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday (May 6) for pipeline work. Northbound 48th Street closed at Broadway Road. DETOUR: Sky Harbor traffic can use I-10 to Buckeye Road to access airport's west entrance. Alternate north-south routes include 40th and 52nd streets.
Southbound State Route 51 (Piestewa Freeway) closed between Greenway and Cactus roads from 11 p.m. Friday to 7 a.m. Saturday (May 4) for installation of ramp meter equipment. DETOUR: Drivers can use Bell, Greenway, or Thunderbird roads to 32nd or 40th streets southbound to Cactus Road to access southbound SR 51.
Southbound State Route 51 on-ramps at Greenway and Thunderbird roads closed from 11 p.m. Friday to noon Sunday (May 5) for installation of ramp meter equipment. DETOUR: Drivers can use Greenway or Thunderbird roads to 32nd or 40th streets southbound to Cactus Road to access southbound SR 51.
Northbound Interstate 17 closed at Peoria Avenue from 9 p.m. Friday to 6 a.m. Saturday (May 4) for installation of ramp meter equipment. DETOUR: Drivers can exit and re-enter I-17 using the off- and on-ramps at Peoria Avenue.
Northbound Interstate 17 closed at Bell Road from 11 p.m. Saturday to 9 a.m. Sunday (May 5) for installation of ramp meter equipment. DETOUR: Drivers can exit and re-enter I-17 using the off- and on-ramps at Bell Road.
Westbound Loop 202 (San Tan Freeway) narrowed to one lane between Baseline and Hawes roads from 9 p.m. Sunday to 5 a.m. Monday (May 6). Please note westbound on-ramp at Elliot Road also closed. DETOUR: Use Hawes Road to access to access westbound Loop 202
Westbound Loop 202 (San Tan Freeway) off-ramp at Hawes Road closed beginning 5 a.m. Monday (May 6) to 5 a.m. Monday (July 15). DETOUR: Exit at Power Road for access to Gateway Airport.

During the closure, local access will be allowed. Drivers are encouraged to allow for additional travel time in the area.
35th Avenue between Dunlap Avenue to Lawrence Lane
When: All day Tuesday
Why: Asphalt microseal project
The street will be restricted to one lane in each direction. Expect traffic delays.
When: Saturday, 5 a.m. to 9 a.m.

- Adams Street: 15th to 19th avenues
- 17th Avenue: Adams to Jefferson streets
- Jefferson Street: Third to 19th avenues
- Third Avenue: Jefferson to Adams streets
