Avoid delays, closures on Valley freeways this weekend

PHOENIX - There will be limited closures along Phoenix-area freeways this weekend (Sept. 28-Oct. 1). The Arizona Department of Transportation recommends drivers allow extra travel time and consider alternate routes while the following restrictions are in place:

  • Eastbound Loop 202 (Santan Freeway) closed between Power and Elliot roads from 11 p.m. Friday to 10 p.m. Saturday(Sept. 29) for striping work related to State Route 24 (Gateway Freeway) construction. DETOUR: Exit northbound on Power Road to eastbound Elliot Road to access Loop 202.
  • Westbound Loop 202 closed between Elliot and Power roads from 10 p.m. Saturday to 5 a.m. Sunday (Sept. 30) for placement of temporary concrete barrier related to State Route 24 construction. DETOUR: Exit westbound on Elliot Road to southbound Power Road to access Loop 202.
  • Eastbound US 60 (Superstition Freeway) narrowed overnight to two lanes from 10 p.m. Friday to 6 a.m. Saturday (Sept. 29) for pavement improvements. No access to eastbound US 60 ramp to northbound Loop 101. DETOUR: Allow extra travel time during overnight restrictions.
  • Northbound Interstate 17 narrowed to two lanes and southbound Interstate 17 narrowed to three lanes between Cactus and Thunderbird roads from 11 p.m. Friday to 9 a.m. Sunday(Sept. 30) for sign foundation work. DETOUR: Be prepared to merge safely in work zone.
