NEW RIVER, AZ - Drivers dealt with big delays Sunday afternoon on Interstate 17 after a multi-vehicle crash near New River.

According to the Arizona Department of Transportation, the collision involving a tractor trailer happened around 10 a.m. on southbound Interstate 17 near milepost 234, about two miles north of New River.

The backup was as much as 10 miles long at one point when traffic was down to one lane, ADOT said.

Both lanes were back open just before noon, according to ADOT.

The extent of any injuries is unknown at this time.
