Thanksgiving travelers venturing across Arizona should be happy to know that there will be no reported road closures or road work for the week.
According to the Arizona Department of Transportation, there will be no construction-related closures between Wednesday afternoon and the morning of Monday, Nov. 25.
Some existing road closures include the Interstate 17 and Route 69 interchange about 60 miles north of Phoenix and the Interstate 10 widening zone near Casa Grande, according to ADOT.
Thanksgiving travelers should exercise great caution while traveling for the holiday despite the open roads.
Fourteen people were killed in 2011 on Thanksgiving weekend on Arizona highways, according to ADOT. It was the deadliest holiday weekend in Arizona last year.
Three of the crashes claimed four lives and involved alcohol as a factor.
As always, ADOT suggests doing an overall check-up of your vehicle before taking a road trip.
Be sure to keep all passengers buckled in safely, getting enough rest before heading out on the road and being prepared for other road issues.
