Marlen Esparza, who is aiming to win the gold when the Olympics feature women’s boxing for the first time this summer, is being profiled in Vogue, according to an article popular on the internet Thursday.
Thepostgame.com said Esparaza, 23, began boxing when she was 11 in Texas.
At 5 feet 3 inches tall and 112 pounds, Vogue said the athlete doesn’t necessary look like a boxer, but her success has led to sponsorships from CoverGirl, Nike, and Coca-Cola, according to the article.
Esparza was reportedly able to quit her dental assistant job to train, but she said it’s torture because she never goes out or dates.
She also said she would be jealous of others if she had Facebook because she would know what she’s missing, according to the article. Read more and see the Vogue photo!
