DENVER -

Denver Broncos offensive coordinator Mike McCoy has accepted the San Diego Chargers head coaching job, according to Tuesday reports.

ESPN's website said the Chargers offered the job to McCoy on Tuesday.

McCoy had been rumored to be in talks with multiple teams looking to fill head coaching positions, including the Arizona Cardinals .

The Cards fired Ken Whisenhunt in December and had so far shown interest in McCoy, former Philadelphia Eagles coach Andy Reid and Pittsburgh Steelers offensive coordinator Todd Haley.

During McCoy's visit with the Chargers, he said the team has a great tradition and great people.

“The great thing is it’s a family run business. I’m big into family," said McCoy. "There’s an open door policy for everyone to feel welcome and open to come enjoy the environment that we’re all in this together.”

The Broncos averaged 30.1 points per game in the regular-season under McCoy.

McCoy has been with the Broncos since 2009.
