PHOENIX - Even though I know Phoenix Mercury fans are going to be upset with me, I have to bring this up.
Diana Taurasi hasn't played for the Mercury since May 26th because of a hip flexor injury and yet, not only did she play for Team USA today, she started the game.
So what does that say about her commitment to the WNBA? What does that say about her so-called injury?
The Mercury is 4 and 15 so far this season, having lost six straight with Taurasi on the sidelines nursing an alleged injury. And yet, no sooner does she get on the road with Team USA, and she's ready to go.
Doesn’t that seem strange? Doesn’t that seem a little coincidental?
And to make matters worse, she looked sharp, finishing with 16 points and 7 assists!
So, is Taurasi just not committed to the Mercury, or is the WNBA just here to support the Olympic Teams?
Or, was Taurasi able to play earlier this summer, but just figured she’d wait for the Olympics?
Either way, it's not good for Mercury fans. They clearly deserve better!
That's Fouhy on Sports!
