TEMPE, AZ - What do you think of Sparky’s newest makeover?
Arizona State University revealed its on-field mascot’s new look (right side of image) at a news conference Friday afternoon.
ASU said they collaborated with Disney to “appeal to younger audiences" and have more of a "contemporary" look.
The official Sparky image wouldn’t change, but this would be the new mascot costume on the field.
They're also starting to sell the new character on some merchandise. Check out bookstore.asu.edu.
Sparky has been updated more than a dozen times in the last several decades, ASU said.
The new Sparky will be featured in animation, comic books, and children’s stories, the school said.
ASU said the first public appearance will be at the spring football game.
