It took about 20 seconds and a few sentences out of ESPN broadcaster Brent Musburger's mouth for the Twitterverse to crown a new queen Monday night during the BCS National Championship game.

Katherine Webb, Miss Alabama, and the girlfriend of Alabama quarterback, AJ McCarron, was the subject of a few flattering comments by the 73-year-old Musburger during ESPN's broadcast of the game, and with nothing to talk about on the field (Bama was just beginning its rout of the Irish), Webb became the focus of everyone tuning in.

Not long after Webb was shown by the ESPN cameras, her Twitter page began to explode. Webb went into Sun Life Stadium with less than 1,000 followers, and when she left, she was well over 100,000, and not because of her doing.

Musburger's comments about the 23-year-old not only sparked Twitter conversation of how creepy the old man was, but it also got many people commenting on the model's looks as well.

Cardinals defensive tackle, Darnell Dockett, held nothing back, tweeting, "Aye, @_KatherineWebb hit me (240) 464-4150 when game over, lets go to wing stop then King of Diamonds."

For those not familiar, King of Diamonds is a famous strip club in Miami, FL.

Dockett later deleted his tweet, saying he thought he was sending her a direct message.

Then Georgia quarterback, Aaron Murray tweeted out, "AJ McCarrons girlfriend needs to become a Dawg fan #dawgsontop." Probably not the classiest thing Murray has ever tweeted about.

McCarron later fired back at both Dockett and Murray, tweeting, "@ddockett u better worry (about) being in them playoffs, then going to king of diamonds homie...#betterkeepdreaming like the rest of these dudes." Then to Murray replied, "@aaronmurray11 u don't win enough bud!! #15."

Keep in mind Alabama beat Georgia in the SEC Championship game to secure a spot in the National Championship.

Other athletes began jumping on as well, including several from the Phoenix area.

Paul Bissonnette tweeted, "AJ McCarrons girlfriend is the reason God invented PVR. #Pause." And Suns rookie Kendall Marshall chimed in, "AJ girl badddddddd!"

While grotesque and inappropriate comments about attractive girls are commonplace among athletes, never in my life have I seen so many publicly make themselves out to be pigs.

Welcome to the age of Twitter everybody.
