SCOTTSDALE, AZ - The Waste Management Phoenix Open gets started Thursday morning with Troy Matteson, Chris Couch and Kris Blanks teeing off on the first tee at 7:30 a.m.
With perfect weather expected for the rest of the week we should see some low scores at the TPC Scottsdale.
Phil Mickelson is struggling right now after missing the cut last week and finishing in a tie for 49th at the Humana.
It is tough to count Phil out especially being a 2-time WM Phoenix Open Champion, but he will not be one of the favorites.
Here are 5 guys who are up to the challenge...
1. Rickie Fowler - He's the flashy fan favorite who nearly won this event a couple years back. Fowler has done just about everything on Tour, but win. This could be the week.
2. Keegan Bradley - The PGA champion has a ton of talent. The 25-year-old looks like he'll be one of the top players on Tour for year to come.
3. Dustin Johnson - Big hitters always seem to play well in Scottsdale and few can keep up with DJ. If the putter catches fire, he will be tough to beat, because he will eat up the Par 5s
4. Matt Kuchar - The former FedEx Cup champ is of the most consistent players on the planet. Kuchar could make the WMOP his first win in a couple years.
5. Chez Reavie - He's my dark horse. Reavie played very well last year coming off a knee injury. He's also got the home course advantage, being a Sun Devil.
