PHOENIX - Forget the highlights, forget who had the best hit of the night, forget all of that.
If you saw Wednesday night's Diamondbacks-Pirates game, then you saw Diamondbacks center fielder Chris Young more emotional than ever before.
Arizona was down 7-5 in the seventh when Young was ejected after being called out on strikes with the bases loaded. Young was obviously frustrated and threw his bat down. Then he argued with the home plate umpire, took off his helmet and tossed it aside.
Diamondbacks manager Kirk Gibson came out of the dugout and removed Young from the field, but Young stormed right back out and started yelling. This time, Gibby forcefully removed Young from the field.
Young remained in the dugout but continued yelling at the umpire.
Justin Upton was also ejected from the game after defending his teammate.
After the game, Gibby said, "I guess he said something. So that was two guys out of the game, we had to get two guys into the game. It's pretty simple. Obviously, Justin's gonna stick up for his teammate. The situation just is what it is."
By the way, the Pirates won 7-6.
