PHOENIX - Arizona's controversial immigration bill is again drawing attention to next month's Major League Baseball All-Star Game, which will be played here in Phoenix.

But this time, it has nothing to do with boycotting the game. It's actually quite the opposite.

There's a new push for fans to form an all-Latino starting line-up for both teams in order to raise awareness about SB1070.

"We want people to stuff the ballot box," said Dr. Rebecca Alpert, a baseball writer and professor at Temple University, "Have the fans vote in an all Latino starting line up."

Last summer, calls for a boycott of the All-Star Game spread across the country in the weeks after the immigration law was passed. The fervor has fizzled in recent months as the law remains tied up in federal court.

An overall boycott failed. Officials said that the game has sold more than 40,000 tickets

But Alpert said the idea is to bring Senate Bill 1070 back into discussion.

"I'm not trying to block the game," she said. "I'm trying to shine a light on it."

We went to Chase Field before Wednesday's Diamondbacks game to ask fans what they think about the idea.

Here's what some people said:

- "Hey, I'm all for it. As a Mexican myself I think it's a great idea to get people talking again."
- "Personally, as a baseball fan, I think that would be going too far."
- "I have heard about the (boycotts), but not as much as when it first came out. I think this is a good thing."
- "Unfortunately, I don't think they should do that. I think everyone should get a fair chance to play."

What do you think of Alpert's idea? Let us know by leaving a comment below.
