SCOTTSDALE, AZ - The Phoenix Suns have a new look. I know, it sounds like we’ve been saying that for the last six months, but today, they actually do have another “new look."
The Suns worked for nearly two years on the re-design with Adidas, the League’s supplier of uniforms, and for the first time in team history, the Suns will wear an alternate orange uniform for Friday night home games.
The Orange uniforms feature a short sleeve that the players we talked with really like. The Suns are the second team in the NBA to introduce a short sleeve uniform. The orange uniform will be worn as an alternate jersey for Friday home games beginning in January, 2014.
The new design in titled, “Speed of Light” with elements of movement that are supposed to symbolize the Suns historically fast paced style of play. The angled “Speed Lines” are also built into the jerseys and well as shooting sunrays across the chest.
All in all a nice, contemporary change to the uniforms.
Pardon me for not being more critical, but I’m rolling with the Suns on this one! I actually like the new look although I will say I wish they would have gone with a black alternate uniform versus the orange, but after getting my first look at the uniforms I think the orange will grow on me.
I do like the short sleeve look even though a number of fans we talked with weren’t too excited about that look.
Again, I’m giving the new uniforms a two thumbs up! Nice work Suns!
That’s Fouhy on Sports!
