PHOENIX, - With Yom Kippur beginning tonight, we kicked off week three last night (Thursday) with nine high school football games from across the valley.
Tonight, we continue our high school football coverage with our “Game of the Night."
(2-0) Tempe McClintock at (2-0) Tempe High . McClintock rolled past Phoenix Christian last week 66-33, but the Buffaloes have outscored opponents 67-21.
Gilbert Higley at Phoenix Christian
The Higley Knights had started the season 2-0 but found out on Monday, they had played an ineligible player in the first two games, so they forfeited both wins. Running back Ricky Marshall has 347 yards rushing and seven touchdowns in two games, while Phoenix Christian’s defense gave up 66 points to Marcos de Niza just last week. This one could quickly turn into a track meet.
Buena at Marcos de Niza
Padres quarterback Josh Eckley continues to shine as the marquee player for Marcos. With (1-1) Buena having given up 111 points in two games, expect Eckley to have a field day in Tempe tonight. This game won’t be close, expect a blowout.
Phoenix Northwest Christian at Tempe Prep
Northwest Christian is clearly the superior team tonight. Expect Tempe Prep to struggle offensively against a team that yielded just 6 points last week. Northwest Christian continues to roll tonight! This game will be played at Valley Christian in Chandler.
Bradshaw Mountain at Saguaro
This game will kick off at 5 p.m. due to Yom Kippur with (2-0) Bradshaw Mountain expected to put up a solid fight against (1-1) Saguaro. This Division III showdown one could come down to defense. Expect Sabercats quarterback Luke Rubenzer to put up some numbers tonight, both rushing and passing.
Snowflake at Seton Catholic
Both teams have started 2013 at 2-0 so this one should be a good one in Chandler. Seton’s offense has scored seven rushing touchdowns in two games. Another game that could have a lot of fireworks, so get there early and grab a seat!
