PHOENIX - Hiring Mike D'Antoni to be the next Lakers coach is probably the best thing L.A. has done in the past two years. Okay, maybe that's an overstatement, but the Lakers truly need someone like Coach D'Antoni to get this team on the same page and allow them to play the way they need to play, loose and free wheeling.

Obviously, adding Steve Nash and Dwight Howard to the roster was huge, but we found out what happens when you try to run the "Princeton" offense, and it wasn't pretty! To have four All-Stars on your starting roster and then try to slow them down with an offense that clearly wasn't designed for them was ridiculous and obviously, it got Mike Brown fired! Bad decision by Coach Brown. Lesson learned by him.

Enter Mike D'Antoni, a coach who knows how to pull strong players together (Steve Nash, Amar'e Stoudemire, Joe Johnson, Shawn Marion) and can motivate them with his fast break, pick and roll style.

When you look at the fact that he'll have Metta World Peace and Dwight Howard on the floor, I don't think we need to worry about the Lakers playing defense either.

I agree with Mitch Kupchak, Mike D'Antoni is the best choice for the Lakers right now.
