An article from Medical News Today discusses why it's important for college students to be vaccinated.

Among the topics mentioned are bacterial meningitis and HPV (human papilloma virus).

Read the article and see the recommended vaccines list.

Dr. Allan Markus, Director of ASU Health Services, sent the following to ABC15 concerning the university's requirements:

"Due to the high infection risk of measles, all students at ASU are required to have documentation of immunity to measles. Students may waive this requirement for medical and other various reasons. For students living on campus, ASU requires students to fill out a meningitis vaccination information sheet that gives all incoming residential students information about the risks and benefits of meningitis vaccination and allows health officials to better respond in case of an outbreak. ASU Health Services encourages all students to get vaccinated to protect themselves against diseases such as hepatitis, tetanus and human papilloma virus. The hepatitis B and HPV vaccinations prevent infections that can lead in some cases to later development of liver and cervical cancers."
