The trial for Phoenix police officer Richard Chrisman, charged with second-degree murder in connection with the shooting death of a suspect at a domestic violence call, is scheduled to be assigned to a judge Wednesday. Pre-trial motions would likely then be heard before jury selection would begin in early August. 8:30 a.m., Maricopa County Superior Court.
BODY IN VAN ARRAIGNMENT
Alan Stout, Gregory Stout, and Alva Stout are scheduled to be arraigned on vulnerable adult abuse and animal abuse charges. They were arrested after their elderly mother and 35 animals were found dead in their van. 8:30 a.m., Maricopa County Superior Court, Phoenix.
CHANDLER EXPOSURE ARRAIGNMENT
Cameron Strempel, charged with six counts of public sexual indecency after allegedly flashing several women in Chandler over a period of six months, is scheduled to be arraigned. 8:30 a.m., Maricopa County Superior Court, Phoenix.
DES DIRECTOR AT CONGRESS
Arizona Department of Economic Security Director Clarence Carter will testify before the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Ways and Means about better coordinating benefits and making sure families receive needed help. 2 p.m. EDT, Longworth House Office Building, Washington, D.C.
STATE FARM CONSTRUCTION KICKOFF
Construction will begin on the new 20-acre, $600 million Marina Heights Development along Tempe Town Lake, which will include five office buildings leased by State Farm. 9 a.m., Carson Center, ASU Sun Devil Stadium, Tempe.
DROWNING IMPACT AWARENESS
Phoenix Children’s Hospital will launch its Drowning Impact Awareness Month campaign, presenting first-hand accounts of child drownings and strategies to protect children. 9:30 a.m., Phoenix Children’s Hospital.
