ALL-STAR CHAIN GANG
Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office chain gangs, dressed in pink t-shirts, will be cleaning littered or trashy areas of downtown Phoenix and other nearby areas impacted by All-Star Game activity. There will be three separate chains, with a new anti-DUI chain gang made up of illegal immigrants serving sentences for DUI offenses. 8am-1pm, Downtown Phoenix.
BEASTIALITY SENTENCING
Sentencing is set for Patrick Trejo, a Phoenix middle school music teacher who pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to commit beastiality. He and another man were accused of attempting to have sexual contact with a dog. 11am, Maricopa County Superior Court, Phoenix.
MISSING WOMAN MYSTERY TRIAL
The trial of Bryan Stewart, a.k.a. Rick Valentini, will begin with opening statements. He is charged with numerous counts of forgery and misconduct involving weapons. He is accused of using his missing girlfriend’s car and credit cards after her disappearance. He was more recently charged with second-degree murder and fraudulent schemes, which will be handled at a separate trial. 10:30am, Maricopa County Superior Court, Phoenix.
PATIENT DEATHS TRIAL
The trial of Peter Normann will wrap up with closing arguments. The Anthem liposuction doctor was charged with four counts of second-degree murder and one count of manslaughter in connection with the deaths of three patients at his clinic. 10:30am, Maricopa County Superior Court, Phoenix.
KIDS TIED UP ARRAIGNMENT
Arraignment is scheduled for Sadie Marie Johnson, charged with arson of an occupied structure and a number of other counts after a trailer home with several children she was watching caught fire in Guadalupe. The children appeared to have been bound with tape. 8:30am, Maricopa County Superior Court, Phoenix.
SCHOOL FUNDING
State Senator Kyrsten Sinema will discuss her Fund Our Schools First Petition and deliver its signatures to Governor Jan Brewer’s office. The petition urges Brewer and the legislature to put every penny that comes into the state treasury above projected revenues into education first. 10am, Senate Democratic Caucus Room, Arizona State Capitol, Phoenix.
NEW SKATE PLAZA
Professional skate boarder Rob Dyrdek will take part in a ribbon-cutting ceremony on the City of Phoenix’s first skate plaza in Laveen. The skateboarder’s foundation donated $50,000 for the design and construction of the park, which has 10,000 square feet of skateable terrain. 10am, Cesar Chavez Park, Phoenix.
